Waiting for a decision from IRCC can be stressful but there’s finally some relief. IRCC has introduced a new personalized tracking tool that lets applicants see real-time processing information for their PR and Citizenship applications.
Unlike the old system that only showed average timelines, this new tool provides a customized estimate based on when you applied. It tells you:
- How long until a decision is expected
- How many people are ahead of you in the queue
- The total number of applications still being processed
This upgrade currently covers several major categories:
- Economic Immigration Programs
- Family Sponsorships
- Spousal & Common-Law Partner (inside/outside Canada), Parents & Grandparents Program
- Citizenship Applications
- Citizenship Grants and Certificates (Proof of Citizenship)
- Humanitarian & Refugee Cases
- Protected Persons and Convention Refugees within Canada
While this update doesn’t yet apply to temporary residence categories (study, work, or visitor visas), it’s a major step toward transparency and accountability in Canada’s immigration process giving applicants more control and clearer expectations while they wait.
