Canada Pauses Deportations to Israel and Lebanon Amid Ongoing Conflict
Canada has temporarily halted deportations to Israel and Lebanon due to the ongoing conflict and unstable conditions in the region.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says the situation remains “volatile and unpredictable,” creating potential risks for civilians. As a result, Canada has implemented an Administrative Deferral of Removals (ADR), which temporarily pauses deportations to both countries.
The measure means that individuals who would normally be subject to removal orders will not be deported while the deferral remains in place.
However, the pause does not apply to individuals found inadmissible for serious criminality, security concerns, or human rights violations. In such cases, deportations may still proceed despite the deferral.
Canadian authorities say deportations to Israel and Lebanon could resume once conditions in the region stabilize and it is considered safe to carry out removals again.
