Saskatchewan – The Ministry of Immigration and Career Training has issued a compensation order totaling $96,000 against an unlicensed immigration consultant, marking a significant enforcement action under The Immigration Services Act (ISA).

The order was issued against Yan Wang, who was found to have provided unauthorized immigration services. According to the Ministry, Wang accepted payment from a client but failed to submit any application or documentation to the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The consultant also provided falsified documents to the victim, further compounding the misconduct.

Following a formal investigation, the Ministry exercised its authority under the ISA to issue a compensation order. As a result, the full amount of $96,000 has been recovered and returned to the victim, who had suffered financial losses due to the fraudulent activities.

Officials confirmed that this is the first compensation order successfully paid under the Immigration Services Act, highlighting the province’s commitment to protecting newcomers and holding unauthorized consultants accountable.

Under the ISA, the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training has the authority to investigate complaints, impose administrative penalties, and issue compensation orders against individuals providing immigration services without a license or engaging in fraudulent conduct.

The Ministry also emphasized that individuals who offer immigration services without proper authorization, submit false documentation, or exploit clients may face serious legal and financial consequences.

This case serves as a reminder for applicants to verify the credentials of immigration consultants and ensure they are properly licensed before engaging their services.
